Introduction
AX is to agents what UX is to humans
For decades, UX defined how products serve people. Every interaction was designed around human perception, cognitive load, and physical input. Then developers became first-class users too, and DX emerged: APIs, documentation, SDKs, and CLI tools built for people who code rather than click.
Agents are the third wave. They browse, read, authenticate, fill forms, call APIs, and complete tasks on behalf of people. But they are not humans and they are not developers. They have no patience for ambiguity, no way to intuit what a button does from its color, and no path to recover from an unhelpful error.
AX is the practice of designing your web presence so agents can use it reliably. Not by building a separate agent layer. By building the same product better.
